Capital Campaign: For His Pleasure & Glory
Dear Family & Friends of OGC:
Solomon reminds us in Ecclesiastes 3:1 & 3 that for everything there is a season including a time to build. After much prayer, discussion, and planning, our leadership team strongly believes God would have us proceed with the construction of a worship and ministry facility on our Maitland Avenue property.
The next phase of advancing toward the realization of this nearly two decade dream for our church involves conducting a five week capital fundraising campaign in order to complete the project. On those Sundays I intend to preach through the book of Haggai to call each of us to consider what the Lord would have us do toward building a house, that He might take pleasure in it and be glorified.
With this significant step we continue our challenging journey of faith calculated to enhance the ongoing accomplishment of our mission and to live out the values we have so carefully articulated as a church. It remains to be seen what God will do in response to our obedience in all He requires to this end!
Hudson Taylor, missionary to China, wisely said, God’s work done in God’s way will not lack God’s supply. Pray with me, please, that this will be our experience from start to finish. SDG.
For the Chief Shepherd,
Pastor Curt

Our History
Fifty people met on November 3, 1991 for OGC’s very first worship service. With attendance reaching 300 by 1994, our founders purchased for $290,000 fifteen acres on Keller Road near Maitland Center in hopes of eventually erecting a facility there. God had other plans! In 1994 we traded the Keller Road property for a gorgeous seven acre frontage piece on Maitland Ave, PLUS $1.2 million in cash – a gift from God to say the least.
Since then we’ve attempted to proceed with a building effort on that property only to have God close the door by His sovereign will. Now, in spite of the economic recession, enjoying the best giving in our church’s history, the time seems opportune to move forward with acquiring a permanent home for our ministry.
Our Opportunity
God has graciously positioned us with resources to embark on this construction project. We own our land and office facility. We have nearly one million dollars in cash.
The estimated cost for the entire job is $2.5 million. In order to complete it with as little debt as possible and to ensure we do not exceed our ongoing operating budget, we have set a faith goal for this campaign of $500,000.
Kick off for this focused effort of sacrificial giving is slated for April 25, 2010. It concludes on commitment Sunday, May 23. During worship that day we will all present envelopes containing our pledge commitments to God.
Between now and then we ask that you . . .
PRAY –petition God to provide abundantly for our need and even beyond for His fame and our joy. Seek your heart as to what He would have you give above and beyond your regular giving.
PLAN – think strategically, creatively, & purposefully. Consider giving from savings, tax refunds, garage sales, or even a part-time job. Where could you reduce expenses or defer purchases to free up resources? What service might you perform in lieu of a monetary gift?
PLEDGE – bring your envelope on the 23rd with your one-time, monthly, and/or gift-in-kind commitment or send it to the church office at the address in this brochure.
Our Prayer
Gracious Father in heaven,
You have been so kind and generous to us as a church over the years of our existence. Thanks for caring for us through our ups and downs, our successes and our failures. We praise you for the gifts of land, property, funds and other resources entrusted to us to steward for you.
We have long asked you for the additional trust of a facility as a ministry center from which we may operate for the sake of the fame of your name here in central Florida and among the nations. It seems you have directed us to this time and this place for just such a purpose.
Therefore we ask you to bless our capital campaign effort from start to finish. Deliver us from manipulative and guilt-producing fleshly strategies that only result in begrudging and resentful giving. Increase our faith and alter our ways that we might embrace the spirit of this challenge with cheerful, even hilarious joy. Be pleased to pour out the resources of heaven on our behalf that we might have everything we need to accomplish and finish the work.
In the end result we will gratefully give you all the praise for what you do and will carefully acknowledge that unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain (Psalm 127:1)
In Jesus name,
Amen
